Why The Media Can’t Bash The Master Cleanse

In response to an attack on the Master Cleanse (also commonly known as the Lemonade Diet) in the media, a few key points should be addressed and clarified. After all, Burroughs’ Master Cleanse gives great results in so many cases that hundreds of thousands of people do it every year without any press or media attention and motivate others to follow suit. The biggest issue is the inconsistency of the range of products and information that are still being called the Master Cleanse, or the Lemonade Diet, which are actually not Burroughs’ Master Cleanse.

For example, on one of the websites for the Master Cleanse, 8 different kits are available for sale, however, only one of them is for the Master Cleanse as written by Stanley Burroughs. The other 7 kits, also called Master Cleanse kits, are for every variation imaginable. There is a kit that contains protein to take during the cleanse for those concerned about their protein intake, another provides vitamins to take during the cleanse, etc. Why not sell another with food for those that get hungry? All these versions detract from and defeat the purpose of the Lemonade Diet.

As those familiar with the Burroughs’ Master Cleanse know, the power of this cleanse comes from it being a juice fast. Fasting has been around for centuries, supported by numerous cultures around the world and has been traditionally used as a way to restore health and vitality. The closer one is able to get to a pure water fast (meaning no other fluids or foods are taken), the more powerful its results. Any addition to the fast, whether it be psyllium husk or bentonite clay shakes, protein or vitamins, reduces its effectiveness and makes it perform as just another colon cleanse, instead of being a cleanse for the entire body, like Burroughs says.

Educating people is the better approach. Helping them understand that going without protein for a period of 10, 20 or 40 days is not fatal, will not cause permanent damage and can actually reap positive rewards as can be seen from the results posted by the more than 450 people so far in this year’s January cleanse.

There are countless websites that contain misinformation or sell kits that do not strictly adhere to Stanley Burroughs’ Master Cleanse. These site and providers are doing a disservice to their customers because the Master Cleanse has been proven to work by so many people—as long as it’s done correctly.

It’s also worth noting that many media reports on the Lemonade Diet provide opinions by persons who have never actually done the cleanse.

The most effective way to do the Lemonade Diet is to follow the guidelines, exactly, according to Stanley Burroughs’ Master Cleanse. It continues to be spread and used because it continues to reap such great results with those who try it. Regardless of what is said about it in the media, word of mouth continues to get the word out to others. The beneficial effects are what continue to inspire and motivate more and more to try it. When the proof is in the pudding, so to speak, it won’t make any difference what someone in the media has to say about it. The real danger comes in changing the Master Cleanse into something much less effective and still calling it the Master Cleanse. Because then people who don't get great results will think they've tried it and they'll tell others it doesn't work and those people will never get a chance to see what the real Master Cleanse can do.
